- Entire new subfamily introduced as proportional counterpart: MonoLisa Text
- Original ‘MonoLisa’ font family renamed as ‘MonoLisa Code’
- ss14 – Figure seven (7) with a middle stroke was introduced as ss14
- ss15 – Plain zero (no center) was introduced as ss15. In MonoLisa Text, the variant is a dotted zero instead for legibility reasons.
- grade axis - Use
GRAD (-50 to 50) to adjust font weight without moving (important for MonoLisa Text)
Fixes
- MonoLisa Code only: coding-related ligatures were moved behind character variants (cvXX) to allow easy adjustability
- ‘Whitespace’ ligatures are now behind
liga feature (active per default)
- All coding ligatures can be de/activated all at once via
dlig(in addition to cvXX) (deactivated per default)
- Stylistic sets (ssXX) have been reorganized and cleaned up
- Paths cleaned up, and components rearranged for better variable font compatibility
- In addition, numerous adjustments were made across the typeface for reasons of distinction and legibility
Languages
- Support for Greek language was extended
- Scripts for Armenian, Hebrew and Braille have been added
Migrating from v2 to v3
Note that the font family has changed so rename from MonoLisa to MonoLisaCode. Also consider the following changes to stylistic set mapping:
- Normal asterisk: ss01 → ss07
- Script variant (italic only): ss02 → ss01
- Alt sharp s: ss05 → None. Removed as redundant.
- Alt curly bracket: ss07 → ss11
- Alt parenthesis: ss08 → ss12
- Alt greater equal: ss09 → cv06
- Alt greater equal: ss10 → cv07
- Hexadecimal x: ss11 → ss13
- Thin backslash: ss12 → ss12
- Alt dollar: ss13 → ss08. ss08 contains alternate currency symbols.
- Alt &: ss14 → ss09
- i without serif: ss15 → ss02
- r without serif: ss16 → ss02
- Alt .= and ..=: ss17 → cv10
- Alt at: ss18 → ss05
- Besides zero, there’s also ss15 (plain zero) now
